I admit I always had crush on Italy. I still remember our family trips to Trieste for shopping , because who knows more about clothes then Italians… We would stay few days on Istrian coast and then just cross a border to Italy.
Later on I worked for Italian NGO and had chance to knew few Italians that I can still call friends and travel through Italy with them. One of my friends, Claudio, born in Florence, showed me his city a lot of years ago and memories of Florence got deeply into my memory.

Coming back to Florence this October was very special, nostalgic feeling mixed with excitement.
This time I was about to teach photography and styling together with Renée.

We were lucky to have such a great guide as Marina is. Despite big crowds in the city center , she showed us parts of city where locals like to wonder, Saturday organic market, bakeries, small shops, coffee bars and best restaurants.
We stayed at amazing Numeroventi where our host Martino did everything for us to feel welcome.
We had chance to learn how to make pasta from Emiko and eat all delicious food she cooked for us.
We visited Saskia Wittmer and Liverano & Liverano studious, where creativity was palpable.
We picnic at Valdirose, in between olive trees.
We strolled through hidden Florence streets, trying to catch light and shade.

Week in Florence was special in so many ways, and I am thankful for all of those who made it happen as well as amazing participants who shared their stories and experiences and let use inspired them but but also being inspired with!!!

SOLAR, new collection by Inês Telles, is light and dancing jewelry, adorned with cut out patterns that play between the emptiness and the full, the light and it’s absence, and that are punctuated with little pearls and thin silver slats.

Last September my friends gathered for beach picnic to celebrate the end of summer.
This gathering made part of Spoonful Salt Issue.

I made Spelt Sourdough Bread that we ate with Herbs Labneh and Black Tea Cured Salmon, baked Beef and Olives Empanadas and for desert we had Berry Tart with Crumble and Chia Pudding with Strawberries and Hazelnuts and drank Grapefruit and Fennel Lemonade.

You can find all these recipes and story about our celebration in last issue of Spoonful magazine.

Spending days surrounded my water, nature and friends, enjoying silence or spending hours speaking about this and that around the table, having long walks on the beach or in the forest, reading, eating, listening to sounds around us …
Silent Living houses are based on some of these value. I spent few days in their houses trying to capture all of these and here you can see few of my favourite images.

I am so proud to be part of ‘SUL family’.
I can see this brand growing and I grow with them. Every new piece is even more beautiful then the previous one.

I know people who design them and those who made them, and knowing what care and love is involved in every stitch is also very important in feeling those pieces and trying to capture them in the best way.

Evey peace is made by hand in Portugal, with leather sourced locally.

There are no words with which I could describe Inês Telles and her work. I always hoped I would have the chance to put it into images.
This is how I visually could express it, feminine but strong, soft but aggressive, light but dark… her work is extremely inspiring.

*****

Back in November I worked with Mini by Luna , my favourite shop in Lisbon (so you can understand my excitement about it). They launched online shop and I photographed products for house.
It was such a fun doing this session inside the shop with people coming and going, stopping at the window looking in .. quite an experience.

P.S. if you didn’t have time doing shopping for holidays I suggest you to look here

Very often I think about simplicity, its meaning and importance in my life.
It is something very hard to reach, we have the tendency to complicate, add unnecessary details…
It is something I seek for in my work, in relations and everything that surrounds me.

Back in June I worked together with SUL, photographing their new pieces. I kept thinking how extremely simple but so elegant and beautiful their products are. I wanted to capture them that way, emphasizing their beauty and simplicity.

‘… We are in favor of simplicity and perfection, pieces that endure over time, from parents to children, carrying moments to be told, like tattoos …’

*****
