I admit I always had crush on Italy. I still remember our family trips to Trieste for shopping , because who knows more about clothes then Italians… We would stay few days on Istrian coast and then just cross a border to Italy.
Later on I worked for Italian NGO and had chance to knew few Italians that I can still call friends and travel through Italy with them. One of my friends, Claudio, born in Florence, showed me his city a lot of years ago and memories of Florence got deeply into my memory.

Coming back to Florence this October was very special, nostalgic feeling mixed with excitement.
This time I was about to teach photography and styling together with Renée.

We were lucky to have such a great guide as Marina is. Despite big crowds in the city center , she showed us parts of city where locals like to wonder, Saturday organic market, bakeries, small shops, coffee bars and best restaurants.
We stayed at amazing Numeroventi where our host Martino did everything for us to feel welcome.
We had chance to learn how to make pasta from Emiko and eat all delicious food she cooked for us.
We visited Saskia Wittmer and Liverano & Liverano studious, where creativity was palpable.
We picnic at Valdirose, in between olive trees.
We strolled through hidden Florence streets, trying to catch light and shade.

Week in Florence was special in so many ways, and I am thankful for all of those who made it happen as well as amazing participants who shared their stories and experiences and let use inspired them but but also being inspired with!!!

There is something very special about organising workshop, it’s all about being inspired.
Last week Marta and I traveled to deep Alentejo, where we couldn’t get enough of beautiful landscapes .. small hills, olive trees, yellow grass burnt by sun…
We found peace, one that force you to calm down, take a big breath and slow down.

On Sunday we welcomed amazing group of ladies who made following days filled with laugh. Together, we searched for the best light and captured what surround us.
But not just that.. we had long meals, ate amazing food made by Filipe, foraged wild flowers with Chelsea, roasted marshmallows late in the night, picnic and swim in the lake and exchange our life stories, experiences and opinions.

I didn’t have any idea, 10 days ago, how me and my view of life would be influenced with the days that followed.
Looking back at these day, I can now clearly see it. I got richer with 10 new friendships, met 10 amazing women, got insanely inspired by them and collected memories for a lifetime.
10 days ago I was packing my bags to leave Lisbon for a workshop with Marta. I was excited but also scared. It was a new adventure. The weather forecast was not good and we made a plan B for all activities that we have been planning in the last few months.
But, as the participants started to arrive, I started to feel the positive energy… I knew everything would be ok even with the rain, wind and thunderstorms that were announced.
We changed plans, but the new activities turned out to be even better.
We chased fishermen on a rainy day, we picnicked in the woods with wind, we visited a maker’s house with thunder outside, and the light… the one we chased and wanted to capture, was divine, and we could feel it with any each snap of our cameras.
We spent these days at a beautiful place eating amazing food, drinking great wine, editing, sharing stories and experiences and laughing… laughing a lot.
Now I know I changed, and each one of the ladies influenced me because, despite being all different, they all have some things in common… smart, independent, creative, funny, beautiful and I truly believe their work will soon come to you. So, please check out their visions of those passed days and be prepared for all that is coming in the future from Sini, Marina, Lisa, Jonna, Simone, Anna, Ana, Pilar, Giulia and Mina.

Food and Lifestyle Photography and Styling Workshop Croatia

Food and Lifestyle Photography and Styling Workshop CroatiaFood and Lifestyle Photography and Styling Workshop CroatiaFood and Lifestyle Photography and Styling Workshop Croatia

Join Krissy of CottageFarm and me for a 5 night photography and lifestyle retreat in Croatia.

This October (5th – 9th) we will call the tiny island of Zlarin home. Set just a few miles offshore from the Croatian mainland, this picturesque island is one of the only a handful on the Adriatic Sea where cars are not allowed, making it an idyllic spot to nurture the imagination and encourage relaxation.

Tucked away in this beautifully rugged little seaside paradise, dotted with fig and cypress trees, we will have the chance to fill our lungs with fresh salty air and awaken our creative spirits. Here, in this intimate setting, we will delve into the creative process, exploring the art of photography and styling. You will learn how to create, shoot & style still life scenes and we will discuss the use of natural light, camera mechanics, prop selection and scene creation.

Over the 5 days, we will also explore the local lifestyle and regional cuisine of the island from leisurely al fresco lunches in the garden to boat rides on the brilliant blue Adriatic. A visit to one of the area’s most well known vineyard is also on the itinerary.

While days will be dedicated to learning and exploration, evenings will focus on the simple joys of gathering, sharing meals and the camaraderie of conversation. This time to reflect and relax is as important as our information filled days to fostering the creative process and finding personal inspiration. I met Marta a year ago. Marta in person was exactly as I imagined she would be, while reading her blog. We had a click. Since then we kept contact, share our lows and highs, ask advices from each other…

Autumn Retreat

Autumn Retreat | Photography by Sanda Vuckovic | Graphic design by Eglė Bazaraitė

Autumn in the south is green – rain comes instead of snow here and oranges ripen nurtured by the winter sun. The shadows get longer, and the little brooks become filled with water. It is green, humid and certainly inspiring!

It is a moment when nature becomes slower, and we want to invite you to slow down too. And celebrate the crafts that require time, but cherish the spirit.

The retreat will celebrate creativity in the serene landscape of Alentejo, Portugal: Casas Caiadas will welcome all of us for the designated days dedicated to baking, photographing, macramé and knitting; lots of tea, fabulous local olives and cheese as well as some delicious wine from Alentejo.

We will gather in Casas Caiadas – a space of traditional architecture fully restored from a core of old water mills, in the heart of Alentejo with waterways, luscious green landscapes and megalithic rocks – a place to relish the beauty of life while sitting by a stream of water flowing between stones, surrounded by centennial olive trees, menhirs and a spirit of Iberian history.

During this retreat we’ll cook, photograph, talk and knit, take walks, learn macramé and share inspiring stories of how to get ready for the winter season. Photography and visual storytelling will be in the hands of Sanda Vuckovic Pagaimo. Joana Teixeira will introduce you to the most beautiful macramé knots with a nautical feel (after all Portugal is a nautical country!), and Egle Bazaraite will tell stories about local Portuguese breeds of sheep, share tips on hand spinning and teach knitting. The days will be busy with slowness!

Dates: November 19-22, 2015

Location: Casas Caiadas (1 hour south of Lisbon, near the small village of Sabugueiro, Alentejo, and a short drive from the city of Évora, UNESCO world heritage site.)

Availability: The workshop is open for 8 people only.

Cost: €980 (based on sharing a double room; cost does not include airfare or transport to and from the airport) which includes:
*3 nights stay at Casas Caiadas, a beautifully refurbished farmhouse in the Portuguese countryside, which we will have all to ourselves.
*2 full days of hands-on cooking, knitting, macramé and photography workshop
*all meals during your stay
*home-made snacks and refreshments during the workshop hours

Payment: 980€ bank transfer to confirm registration (in case of PayPall payment add 50€ fee)

Cancellation Policy: We ask that you confirm your attendance before registering. Unfortunately we cannot offer refunds on cancellations.

Until a couple of weeks ago I never had a good relation with France, never understood why people put it at the top of their ‘places to visit’ list. I admit, me and France… never happened, the click.
But, things can change… and they did.
A few weeks ago I traveled to the south of France to teach Food Photography and Styling together with Beth and, in the milliseconds we were approaching the small village of Belvezet, it was clear to me that this time I would need to give it a go, and make my relation with France better.

Houses, surroundings, nature, food… it took my breath away!
We stood at this beautiful house for a week, and every single corner of the house, dish or light were a prop.
We gathered every meal around the table and enjoyed the food made by Nadia and Jarrod. We got to know each other, shared our stories and had a good laugh.
I came back home knowing I got ten new friends… Eda, Linda, Angelina, Sofia, Alessandra, Lindsay, Chantal, Jessica, Chan and Jarrod got a special place in my heart.

As casas, o ambiente, a natureza, a comida… tiraram-me o fôlego!
