Mulled Wine;Little Upside Down Cake

If you asked me if I like wine, my answer would be no.

If you asked me if I like sangria or mulled wine, my answer would be yes.

I don’t like wine by itself but, with fruits or spices, it’s something completely different.

During the holiday season, I made mulled wine for the evenings with friends, to accompany our conversation, for me and M., or just for me, while resting in the couch, under the blanket, while reading a book.

Do you use to make it?  Which are the spices that you use?

Se me perguntassem se gosto de vinho, a minha resposta seria não.

Se me perguntassem se gosto de sangria ou vinho quente, a minha resposta seria sim.

Eu não gosto de vinho, por si só, mas, com frutas ou condimentos, é algo completamente diferente.

Durante a altura de férias, fiz vinho quente para as noites com os amigos, para acompanhar a nossa conversa, para mim e o M., ou só para mim, enquanto descansava no sofá, debaixo do cobertor, enquanto lia um livro.

Costuma fazer? Quais são as especiarias que usa?

Mulled Wine; Little Upside Down Cake

Mulled Wine

Place 750ml of dry red wine, 1 stick of cinnamon, 2 tbs sugar (I use coconut sugar), 1/4 ts cloves, 4 whole star anise and the peel of 1 orange in a pan over low heat and simmer, but don’t boil the mixture, for 5 minutes or until fragrant.

Put into warmed mugs and serve immediately.

You can also add other spices and ingredients to wine.

Vinho Quente

Misture 750ml de vinho tinto seco, 1 pau de canela, 2 colheres de sopa de açúcar (eu uso açúcar de coco), 1/4 colher de chá de cravinho, 4 anis estrelados e toda a casca de uma laranja numa panela em fogo baixo e coza, mas não deixe ferver a mistura, durante 5 minutos ou até sentir o perfume.

Coloque em canecas aquecidas e sirva imediatamente.

Pode também adicionar outros temperos e ingredientes no vinho.

      I use to make sangria, but more for summer, now I enjoy hot version :-)

    Your new site is so beautiful Sanda! Your photography inspires me to keep trying to improve my skills! If I weren’t pregnant I would LOVE to have some of this yummy mulled wine! I’ll have to file it away for after May ;-)

    I love wine, mostly white, but my favorite mulled drink is beer :) I absolutely love second photo

      I love beer but now I can’t have it beacuse I have intolerance to barley. I am up to wine now
